Haringey and Enfield Homeless Respite Service - All People All Places (APAP) runs the 'Haringey and Enfield Homeless Respite Service' in partnership with churches, a synagogue and two mosques. We work all year round with our guests (those who are homeless) and our circuit of churches and a synagogue provide an amazing voluntary provision of evening meal, bed and breakfast each night between December and April each year. Highway House helps those who have fallen on difficult times in their lives and need a helping hand. Based in Tottenham, London, their day centre  offers support to all homeless people in the borough, or anyone who might become homeless in the near future and also to people who are lonely or live in isolation. The centre runs every Monday and Friday 11am to 3pm (except on public holidays).

Volunteers Required

Highway House also has some volunteering opportunities. They need volunteers for:

1. Cooks  - they provide a hot meal to all guests that attend;

2. Befrienders - people that can help first time guests fill in an initial application form, are willing to listen to the guests and engage in conversation with them and or play board games with;

3. Support workers - to support guests in accessing health care, applying for benefits, housing, job searches & filling in applications.  (The submission of a CV is required for this role.); 

4. ESOL teachers that can volunteer their time to help our service users improve their English, which can increase their chances of securing employment.

The Whitechapel Mission has been helping Londoners to help the homeless since 1876, meeting the specific needs of each man and woman who walks through their doors. First, they help the homeless by meeting immediate needs: food, shelter, clothing, and medical care. In their recovery programs, they address deeper needs for life-skills and job skills training, and addiction recovery.  The Mission is open 365 days of the year. The Mental Health Access Pack aims to help the church support those struggling with mental health issues. Livability and Mind and Soul have teamed up to provide a free resource to:

• Equip you with knowledge and advice, from medical, psychological and theological perspectives

• Help you support those in your community who are struggling with mental health issues

• Help you to discuss issues and share ideas surrounding mental health and the church
